One Step Closer Children Foundation

We are Non-Profit, Non- Governmental Organization registered with registration number (CG04152016) established to seek and provide the need of orphans, homeless, and school dropout through supportive education and extracurricular programs with the help of well-trained coaches in education and family-life in providing relevant assistance to these poor children in selected communities in Brong Ahafo Region and beyond.

Vision

All underserved children (orphaned, school dropouts, homeless) get opportunity to attain a better education, home and become self-sufficient in life.

Mission

Our mission is to ensure the growing spirit of volunteerism, sacrifice to ensure underserved children in these communities get proper, better education, and have a healthy family life.

History

Our foundation started initially as personal sponsorship to one child, which open our awareness to a challenge facing several poor kids in some communities near Sunyani. As natives of these communities and haven experienced and witnessed poverty and its impact. We are currently taking care of seven (7) kids within the ages of 3-16 years and have more than thirteen (13) children to enroll them on our next project.
Orphans, School dropout, Homeless in these communities lack access to proper education and good parental care. It is our dream to help the underprivileged children in these societies to achieve their life purposes through partnership, community service, and volunteerism and make life better. We want to see these kids have equal opportunity in life as their other counterparts. One Step Closer Children Foundation has come out of desire to help and make this dream come true.

Objectives

Poverty contributes illiteracy rate in Ghana. Children from deprived homes in Ghana do not have coaching at home and those who come from below poverty families line cannot afford after school activities in support of their education. The activities such as going to farm, selling ice water on streets, carrying loads (Kayayo) in which these children and youth engaged while outside of school hours are critical to their mental, social health development. We exist to help and bring quality after school programs in these local deprived communities.

We will provide supportive education and extracurricular programs with the help of well-trained coaches in education and family-life in providing needed assistance to underserved children in selected community centres.
Scholarships will be awarded to deserving students reducing their dropout rate and encourage continued education.
Moreover, the project will provide mentoring, skill building, youth development, sports and recreation.

We will extend education, vocation, and livelihoods to underprivileged children and help them rise out of poverty to secure their future. Most of the children will complete their education, and become first among their family to attend College/University and have improved academic aspirations.

Projects

One Step Closer Children Foundation Centre is a place design for unprivileged children to come and enjoy facilities like ball games, drawing and painting, video, filling in the bottle, sack race and so many more. The center when constructed will have a space of 50x100feet for outdoor activities. The center will have three (3) bedrooms semi-detached building, which will house our kids. These children are between the ages of 3 to 16 years. Trained volunteers and community service participation will serve as coaches.

Public basic education system in Ghana is almost free but poor parent in remote communities cannot afford basic supplies to their kids and these prevent them from getting into school. We identified some needy kids and provided them with school uniform, shoes, and books as starters at the beginning of the academic year. This has yielded a remarkable interest and more kids will be enrolling in subsequent projects.

During vacation, our children will be group according to their grade and discussed with them what interest them. The teams select and zone them into various clubs designated. There will be computer clubs, vacation camps, sports activities, painting and drawing and many more.
